Information for students in Grade 11: Following the Ministry of Education’s mandate WGSS will be running our Graduation Numeracy Assessments or Exams from June 25-June 28. All grade 11s are instructed to write the exam and any grade 10s that are currently in a grade 11 math class. Students are assigned to specific day according to their last name. The schedule is as follows…..
Monday June 25 - Students last names A-G write starting at 1pm in our computer labs
Tuesday June 26 - Students last names H-L write starting at 9am in our computer labs
Wednesday June 27 - Students last names M-R writing starting at 9am in our computer labs
Thursday June 28 - Students last names S-Z write starting 9am in our computer labs
* We highly recommend that grade 11 students write this exam this June as it is a now a graduation requirement; however, if unforeseen circumstances prevent them from writing this year there will be limited opportunities for them to make it up next year prior to graduation.
There are number of ways that our students are and can be preparing for this new assessment. Grade 11 math teachers are using the PDF/PPT [available below] as a starting point to get students familiar with the format of the exam, as well as practice some of the questions. Students will also have the opportunity to sign up in our library for a special May 22nd Flex session that is dedicated to getting students prepared for the exam. As we have been sharing with students already, we are encouraging them to practice and prepare on their own as there is ample information and resources available online at the following web address: https://curriculum.gov.bc.ca/provincial-assessment/graduation/numeracy.
